Systemic training involves learning what makes the individual work IN RELATION to others. How do my reactions come from my experiences with others? It is about my relationship with chocolate and what chocolate means to me; represents about me; is a window into my past when I first met chocolate and how predictable my relationship will be with chocolate in the future.
Narrative Therapy is about the stories I tell about myself; about my past life story; what I want my present and future to look like. Is it possible with the help of an LMFT to re-write these stories others have told me about me; the story I constructed about my past? YES YES YES. A systemic thinking therapist will externatlize my story through the behaviors, re-actions I present in her office.
Is it even possible to make strategic changes? Is only changing me REALLY the most powerful tool I already have? And it will improve my relationships?
